Today, we went on a hike around Silver Lake up by Brighton, with our friends, the Hornes.
First we had a picnic lunch. The kids were having fun watching the critters, which we found out later, thanks to a sign along the hike, are called Uinta ground squirrels.
After lunch we began the hike. The temperature was great! Much better than the near 100 degrees in the valley. The hike was easy enough for the younger kids, but still fun for the older ones. The kids had fun looking at the fish in the pond.
We saw a mother duck and her duckling,
and a few pretty wildflowers.
The kids found little places off the path to rest they called "meeting places".
The views were spectacular.
We found one of our favorite characters on the side of the mountain.
There was even a wedding going on at the same time, with a bagpipe. I love bagpipes. The kids decided this rock was just like a couch, and made themselves comfortable.
Oliver was too adorable not to photograph.

Looks like fun! : ) We should go again.
I'll have to add that to our list of places to hike with the kids! They actually love it more now than 4 years ago, the first time we tried will all of them! You're right, the views are spectacular!
