We made it...just in time

Well, luck seems to be smiling down on us this trip. Hopefully the trend continues, as it did today.

We left Omaha at 8:45 this morning. The plan was to get to Carthage, IL by 3:30, do the tour and then head back to Iowa to our hotel in Burlington. We stopped just outside Iowa City at about 12:30, and believe it or not, we actually made it to Carthage by 2:15 or 2:30. I don't know what it is, but somehow we are getting to places a lot faster than google maps is telling us it should take. Of course, we don't mind that at all.

So, what do I mean by making it just in time? For anyone who hasn't been to Carthage Jail in Carthage, IL, before you take a tour of the jail, they show you a 20 min video. When we got there, there was another group about 15 minutes into the video, so we had to wait our turn. There was a waiting room with lots of pictures in it that we looked at while we waited. We were soon notified that it was our turn to see the video. However, we noticed that in the group that just left was Clarissa and Jordan (who we came to see get married in Nauvoo on Thursday) and Mom Glassett. What a wonderful surprise! We decided to skip the intro video, and join Jordissa and Mom on the tour. I don't know if we could've planned it any better and it was a total coincidence.

After a pleasant dinner at a local family restaurant, where it happened to be kids eat free night, we came back to the hotel and got ready to go swimming in the swimming pool. The boys were practically jumping off the walls they were so excited. As we were waiting for the elevator, the doors finally opened, and who was standing there? That's right, the same people we saw at Carthage!

Tomorrow, the plan is to tour Nauvoo-it will be fun to see what happens then.
